Asbestos Management

If you’re responsible for maintenance of non-domestic premises, you have a ‘duty to manage’ the asbestos in them, to protect anyone using or working in the premises from the risks to health that exposure to asbestos causes.

The personnel at CAS have a vast experience in assisting social housing, schools, health authorities, commercial and industrial sectors in the management of asbestos and can advise accordingly to ensure that the duty holders have the correct procedures and systems in place to effectively manage the asbestos in their premises under their obligations outlined in CAR2012.

CAS is fully licensed by the Health & Safety Executive for the removal and safe disposal of asbestos containing materials. We can assist with the formulation of Management Plans, Policies, reinspection surveys and the successful implementation to ensure duty holders are upholding their responsibilities.

Asbestos Repair / Encapsulation

In some cases, where asbestos containing materials are in good condition and are not likely to be disturbed, we may recommend sealing rather than removing them.  Encapsulation is carried out with specialist sealant which has been developed specifically for the asbestos industry.

Asbestos Removals

Where asbestos containing materials pose an imminent threat to occupiers, we will recommend immediate removal.  This is carried out by trained operatives in a controlled environment and in accordance with current legislation CAR2012.  Asbestos that has been removed will be disposed of in accordance with the Environment Agency’s guidelines for the transportation and disposal of hazardous waste.  On completion the work area is thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated.   It is then inspected visually and a 4 stage air clearance undertaken (licensable works) by an independent UKAS accredited analyst before being handed back to the client for reoccupation.  All operatives engaged in asbestos abatement activities are trained to the highest industry standard.

Asbestos Disposal

Asbestos material which has been removed is transported to approved and licensed landfill sites.  CAS has the facility to collect waste from site where the client has either removed the material themselves or instructed another non-licensed contractor.  All waste disposal activities are carried out in accordance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 HWR2005.
